On January 11, 2008, I was able to mark a major milestone when I sent my entire dossier to the wonderful Laura at the Assistant Stork. I sent this message to my friends and family:
"Celebrate with me! After more than 4 months of paper-chasing, my dossier is finally out of my hands! It's off to a dossier verification/courier service in DC, where it will be authenticated at the US Secretary of State and the Ethiopian Embassy. Then it will be flown to Ethiopia to the embassy there to be translated. Then a court date will be scheduled, then an embassy date, at which time I travel to bring her home! The process from now will take 2-3 months. If all goes well, of course. Anything can happen with international adoptions. I'm still celebrating because getting my dossier out of my hands is a HUGE milestone. I am ecstatic to have it done!!"
What a great feeling! My dossier was received in Ethiopia on January 28th. Now the real waiting begins.
