The TV Junkie Hairstyling Method

Today was an even more successful hair day for Layla. She didn't like it, but it wasn't too bad. The parts still aren't exactly straight, but getting better.
You might wonder what's changed and why I am all of a sudden able to do something (anything) with her hair. I realized that Layla likes television more than she hates having her hair done. I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner. She is enthralled by TV and especially loves the show Lazytown on Noggin. It also helps that she just loves all doggies and kitties and points them out everywhere we go, even if she's just looking at a picture.

All that contributes to the following steps to success with the TV junkie method of hairstyling:

  1. Plant Layla in front of TV. I mean literally, right in front of it.
  2. Work on hair.
  3. When doing her hair takes her attention away from the TV, excitedly say something like "Ooo look! Is that a DOGGIE on TV?" Or, "Look, it's a KITTY, KITTY on TV!"

That's all there is to it! For now anyway, we haven't started with anything that takes a long time to do yet.

Today she sported her hairdo to go get blood drawn for some more lab work, and to drop off another stool sample for retesting. I lost track of how many strangers commented on her cuteness while we were at the hospital. Aside from the 5 minutes of bawling while getting her blood drawn, she had a blast. Check out the Dora band aid and the patient wristband on her ankle in some of the pictures above.

P.S. I've been informed by someone who shall remain nameless that "mwah" is the correct way to spell the kissing sound when texting, not "mwa" as I noted in a recent post (The Truth about Layla). Hmmm. The correct spelling of the kissing sound is something I never contemplated until I wrote that post. I must not be texting the right people!
